Associate Director of Master of Technology Management at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). Co-Founder, President, and CEO of Liberation Technology, a spin-off of a program at Stanford University that fosters the design and use of technology for social good, particularly cybersecurity. Previously worked as virtual CEO teaching tech founders in strategy, product management, marketing, communications, and business development. Taught high-tech entrepreneurship and marketing at the Stanford Technology Ventures Program. Taught innovation at the Stanford Center for Work, Technology, and Organization. Worked for General Motors, Procter & Gamble, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch. Produced winning results on shoestring budgets: ► Used qualitative and quantitative methods to research the market, competition, target customer, and problem to be solved. Determined the vision, mission, value proposition, positioning, segmentation, business model, personas, and use stories and cases, resulting in market requirement documents (MRDs) and product requirement documents (PRDs) ► Worked with product development teams to develop a minimum viable product (MVP) with the right feature set to get to product/market fit, making sure the product solved the right problem and users were willing to pay ► Established the go-to-market strategy for new products via an integrated marketing and communications plan that used engaging copy and compelling press releases to generate awareness and trial, create demand, and take customers through the conversion funnel Won a number of awards: ► World Class Copy Award for Procter and Gamble ► Marketing Plan of the Year for Procter and Gamble ► Best-in-Class Profits Awards for Procter and Gamble ► Black Duck Software’s “Open Source” Award for Diaspora ► Mashable’s “Best Startup of the Year” Award for Diaspora ► Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals' 2017 dotCOMM Award for the UCSB Technology Management Program
